Launched in December 2022, the +Health Series highlights the importance of lighting, acoustics, and thermal comfort on student health and performance from kindergarten to 12th grade.

To support child-focused decision making, these documents aim to synthesize decades of education and health research findings into clear design priorities in K-12 schools. Before a deep dive into the technical research and solutions, each document provides a short research brief to engage diverse stakeholders.

As children rapidly grow and develop, their exposure to artificial and natural light, temperature, humidity, background noise, and reverberation can influence their learning experience.

Healthy schools exist because of the decision made by the various institutions who maintain and operate our buildings. Through purchasing, investment and education, these decisions impact the environment and the millions of people who occupy these spaces every year.
